In collaboration with artists and makers from around Bristol including Becca Rose and Pete Bennett from PM Studio, Lucas and I are involved in organising a Processing Community Day on the weekend of the 9th February.
Processing is an open source software sketchbook and language for learning how to code within the context of the visual arts. They aim to promote software literacy, particularly within the visual arts, and visual literacy within technology. As part of this they have started a project to encourage community events across the world that bring artists, technologist, scientists and makers together in using the software, and encourage people to build confidence in coding. Some of their events and projects can be seen here.
Here in Bristol we are creating our own community day with links to KWMC, the Pervasive Media Studio, UWE, the cube and Framework. This will include talks, workshops, zine-making, live performance coding and community exhibits. Submissions of personal code projects will be open soon for anyone who would like their Processing creations exhibited. Anyone interested in taking part is very welcome!
